1 Week To Go!

It is now exactly 1 week from today that we begin our monthly residency at The Cookie Jar in Leicester and preparations are in full swing.

As well as our very own sketches, there will be an experimental and slightly off-kilter second half with some special guests, including the superb comedian David Longley.

Longley probably doesn't like being called controversial but he doesn't leave any meat on the bone, put it that way.

Crack Comedy, Wimbledon

On 1st March, we will be performing at the lovely Crack Comedy in Wilmbledon on a bill with some brilliant sketch acts as part of Crack Comedy's new Nights of Sketch. Details are below, hope to see you there.

Tickets Now On Sale For Festival Show

Our February show at The Cookie Jar in Leicester is part of Dave's Leicester Comedy Festival and tickets are now on sale!

We are currently hard at work gearing up for the inaugural show in January so keep a look out for more news as we get closer to the new year, as well as info on where/when we'll be cropping up outside of the Leicester Shows.

The Mitford Sisters are a brand new sketch comedy group made up of award-winning actors and comedians. From 21^st January they become a monthly fixture at Leicester’s award-winning basement venue The Cookie Jar.

Comprised of Belt Up Theatre’s (Edinburgh International Festival Award Winners 2008) Dominic Allen (“A delight” – The Stage), Duncan Preston (“Genius… Cheek-achingly funny” – Seren) and stand-up comic Chris Stokes (Best Show Award Winner, Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival 2012, “Has the talent to one day have the world at his feet” – The List), The Mitford Sisters each month combine live sketches with multimedia, stand-up, immersive theatre and new experimental comedy to hilarious effect.

Come and see (among many other things) a modern retelling of Nabokov’s classic ‘Lolita’, how the former Master of the Ninth Plain of Hell and Dark Lord Asmodeus is getting on in today’s Britain and exactly how our intrepid trio are going to get through the show this time as Leicester welcomes its first resident comedy sketch troupe.

DOMINIC ALLEN is an actor, writer and an artistic director (and founding member) of Belt Up Theatre, who have won a raft of awards including the Edinburgh International Festival award for Best Work at the Fringe in 2008. He has written several plays including ‘Morbid Curiosity’, ‘Outland’ and ‘The Trial’, directed ‘The Boy James’ (“Still drying my eyes” – Stephen Fry) and acted in countless more including ‘Macbeth’ (“Inspired” – The Guardian).

DUNCAN PRESTON has written and performed in revues and plays since 2006 and played the lead role in the stage adaptation of ‘Allo Allo’. He also wrote and acted in the comedy revue ‘The Best Medicine’ and currently performs as a stand-up comedian.

CHRIS STOKES is a stand-up comedian, writer and actor and in 2012 he won Best Show at Dave's Leicester Comedy Festival 2012 for his debut show ‘An Opera Written on Napkins’ (“Terrific ****” – The Skinny, “**** Encore please” – Three Weeks, “*****” – Cream of the Fringe). He has supported Milton Jones on 2 UK tours and has also recorded a short appearance for the stand-up television programme Dave's One Night Stand.
